Santo Domingo.- The president of the Duartiano Institute, Dr. Wilson Gómez Ramírez, urged the business sectors to prioritize Dominican labor, the hiring of foreigners with legal residence and mechanization in their productive activities.
When speaking at the swearing-in ceremony of 21 new honorary members of the Duartiano Institute, Gómez Ramírez expressed his support for the commitment to Dominican sovereignty and national security expressed by President Luis Abinader.
In the activity, held in the auditorium of the Casa de Duarte Museum, the president of the patriotic organization also stressed the need to accelerate the construction of the wall or technological physical fence on the border, as well as the rigorous application of the Labor Code regarding the hiring of Dominican labor.
“It is necessary that the Armed Forces and the General Directorate of Migration receive the necessary budgetary support to exercise effective border control,” declared Gómez Ramírez. “This is in order to prevent the return of repatriates, new incursions of illegal immigrants and the entry of members of criminal gangs.”
Finally, he called on the public authorities to repopulate the border, encourage its inhabitants and convert it into a development area of high national priority, as established by the Constitution of the Republic.

Each member received a certificate of accreditation, a patriotic kit with the complete collection of Duartian works, the institutional magazine “Páginas Duartianas”, and a copy of the National Flag.
Ceremony
The activity began with a warm reception for the guests, followed by the singing of the National Anthem and the reading of Duart’s thought “The Coming Generation”, by the architect Jacinto Pichardo Vicioso, general secretary of the Institute.
It also included the premiere of the documentary “Military Life of Juan Pablo Duarte”, a production of the Duartiano Institute, which narrates the strategic military role of Duarte in the actions of 1843 that allowed progress towards the achievement of the Dominican independence action. .
On behalf of and representing the board, Dr. Julio Manuel Rodríguez Grullón offered the welcome words, underlining the importance of keeping Duarte’s ideals alive in Dominican society and imitating his example.
One of the most emotional moments was the donation of two busts of the founding fathers, Juan Pablo Duarte and Ramón Matías Mella, by the numismatic and heraldic expert Miguel Estrella Gómez, also an honorary member of the entity.
These pieces were sculpted in epoxy resin by the Cuban sculptor Adolfo González, they were received with visible admiration by the attendees.
Representing those sworn in, César Bienvenido Olmos Vidal offered some heartfelt words of gratitude, reaffirming the new members’ commitment to national values and the Duartian legacy.
