Jorge Luis Arzolay, president of the Monagas Judicial Circuit, declared before the Directorate of Strategic Intelligence of the Bolivarian National Police (PNB), according to judicial sources.
Arzolay was summoned to declare in the framework of the investigation opened by the Lot of Explosives located in Tipuro and Industrial Zone of Maturín (Monagas), which were publicly shown by the Minister of Interiors, Justice and Peace, Diosdado Cabello.
The minister suspects those explosives would be given a different use to the originalwhich is the drilling of oil wells. He recalled that the Venezuelan oil industry is one of the objectives to be attacked by groups associated with the extreme right led by María Corina Machado, said the minister.
Because of this, 12 people were arrested, including José Enrique Martínez, husband of Judge Lisbeth del Valle Rondón, who was also arrested because he allegedly tried to paralyze the investigations in relation to the Lot of Explosives. Apparently, Judge Arzolay, who is the head of Judge Rondón, allegedly would have approved her for her to appear on the PNB, where they held her husband.
Rondón went to the police headquarters and there supposedly suggested not to continue with the investigations “because there are important people.” Minister Cabello confirmed that episode during a right word that he exercised in the ordinary session of the National Assembly held last Tuesday. “That judge will have to give an account to justice; because someone called her,” he located hair last Tuesday.
Judge Rondón was charged last Friday during the presentation hearing before the First National Court of Control with competence in corruption and organized crime where he was charged with the crimes of: intentional delay or omission of functions (aggravated), persuasion and induction to commit crimes, improper use of information or reserved data and crouching, judicial sources said.
After the judge’s imputation, PNB agents, Maturín headquarters, took a statement to Judge Arzolay last Wednesday night, as revealed by the sources.
Research in relation to the accumulation of explosives for purposes other than oil exploitation continued during the week. Consequently, Minister Cabello reported last Thursday about a new shed where they also located more than 1,500 kilos of fulminating material. This establishment is located in El Tigre (Anzoátegui).
