The president of Mexico, Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador (AMLO)condemned this Monday the possible exclusion of Cuba and other countries of the continent from the Summit of the Americas in Los Angeles, Californiaaccording to official media.
In his daily morning press conference at the National Palace, the Mexican president asked himself “how not to invite everyone, so where are they from, from what continent, from what galaxy, from what satellite?” an office from the agency Latin Press (PL).
In AMLO’s opinion, one must go to the summit “to dialogue, to understand each other, to brother each other”, and for this “we must say no to confrontation”, adds the media.
The information of PL points out that López Obrador revealed that he had dealt with the issue “very directly” in his telephone conversation with the US president, Joe BidenIn the past week.
The president added that he (Biden) told him that he was going to think about it. “Hopefully there will be an open invitation, and whoever does not want to go should not go, but no one is excluded,” said the president, quoted by the agency

The publication refers to AMLO denouncing that in the United States there are internal groups that oppose the Cuban presence, because “they have taken advantage” of the exclusionary policy towards the Island. “They have taken many political and economic advantages, but enough of to be thriving with people’s pain and suffering,” he said.
In that sense, he cited the situation in Mexico as an example. According to PLreferred to the fact that “our compatriots help us with more than 50 billion dollars a year in remittances and that has nothing to do with ideology or parties or politics, it is family help.”
“Then why not give that possibility to the Cubans who live there and have their relatives in Cuba. Why suffocate them? ”, Reflected the president.
In his speech, López Obrador ratified his position against the U.S. sanctions policy towards the island and described as “very vile” the intention that “because of the situation caused by the blockade, they would throw the people of Cuba against their government.”
The Mexican government had shown its position on the possible exclusion of Cuba and other countries in the nearby continental forum, through its Foreign Minister Marcelo Ebrard, prior to the aforementioned telephone conversation between López Obrador and Biden.
“Mexico would like all countries to be invited [a la Cumbre], not to some yes and to others no. Cuba, Nicaragua and Venezuela are part of the Americas and should be there,” the Mexican foreign minister recently said.

In this visit, the first one carried out in the region, he will exchange with the presidents and prime ministers of those countries and will socialize his policy on regional development, cooperation and friendship between peoples, highlights a report from the agency EFE.
“Yes, we are going to have meetings with the presidents and we are going to make known our policy regarding regional development, cooperation and friendship among peoples,” said AMLO, who also confirmed that upon his arrival in Honduras he will be accompanied by his wife, the historian Beatriz Gutiérrez Müller, since she will previously go to Washington, in the United States, where she was invited to commemorate May 5 in that country.
