Given the wave of violence that Ecuador is experiencing and that has left several fatalities in recent days, the president of this South American country, Guillermo Lasso, decreed the possession of firearms for personal defense.
In the same way, he also announced the use of pepper spray, the prohibition of manufacturing and possession of handmade weapons.
One of the most notorious events of the week and that went around the world was when some criminals tied explosives to a security guard, who was unharmed after police specialized in explosives managed to deactivate the device. Thus, private security guards were authorized to support the national police by carrying their weapons.
Also, the state of exception was decreed for Guayaquil – Durán and Samborondon, Santa Elena and Los Ríos with a curfew from 1:00 am to 5:00 am. Starting this Sunday, April 2.
