President of Cuba calls for accelerating the pace of anti-Covid-19 vaccination

The President of Cuba, Miguel Díaz-Canel, called today not to fall into routine in the face of the improvement in statistics regarding the Covid-19 pandemic and to accelerate the pace of booster vaccination.

At a meeting of the government group to confront the health emergency, the president called for rigorous protocols and measures to prevent a resurgence of this disease caused by the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus.

Díaz-Canel reiterated the need to maintain high levels of immunization to maintain the favorable situation of recent months, in a population in which 54.2 percent have already received their booster dose.

According to the website of the Presidency, the head of state also alerted the authorities of the provinces of Matanzas (west of the country), Cienfuegos, Sancti Spíritus (center), Las Tunas, Holguín and Santiago de Cuba (east), that The report of daily cases of Covid-19 increased.

Cuba confirmed 510 positive cases on this day, with which it maintains the tendency to control the epidemic as experts predicted.

According to the Minister of Public Health, José Ángel Portal, since March 2020, one million 72 thousand 474 cases have been diagnosed in the Caribbean nation, of which 7 thousand 581 in the last two weeks.
