Judith Pena | January 21, 2023

The President of Brazil, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, unexpectedly dismissed, this Saturday, the commander of the Army, General Júlio Cesar de Arruda, after the assault on the headquarters of the three powers on January 8 in Brasilia.

To replace the general, Lula da Silva appointed General Tomás Miguel Ribeiro Paiva as Army Commander, who is in charge of the southeastern military region, which includes the State of São Paulo.

Twelve days ago, a group of Bolsonaro fanatics assaulted the headquarters of the presidency, the Congress and the Supreme Court, for which Lula da Silva dismissed more than 80 soldiers from the presidential circle, assuring that those who entered his office did not need the they did because someone opened them from the inside.
