In a significant act that marks the beginning of a new stage in land administration in Panama, His Excellency the President of the Republic, José Raúl Mulino, together with the General Administrator of the National Land Administration Authority (ANATI), Lic. Andrés Pagés, the Governor of the Province of Chiriquí, Aixa Santamaría, the President of the National Assembly, Dana Castañeda and others
National and provincial authorities carried out the first delivery of property titles under the new government.
The ceremony took place in the Bugaba Municipal Council Hall, where property titles were handed over to beneficiaries residing in the districts of David, Alanje, Bugaba and Dolega. This event underlines the National Government’s commitment to ensuring that lands that have been worked and owned by their inhabitants are legally recognized.
During the event, President Mulino reaffirmed his commitment to social justice and equity in land distribution, highlighting the importance of these titles reaching the hands of those who truly own and have worked these lands.
For his part, Lic. Andrés Pagés, General Manager of ANATI, was emphatic in stating: “We will not allow unscrupulous people to take advantage of the law to obtain titles that do not belong to them. ANATI will ensure that each title delivered is an act of justice, ensuring that those who have fought and worked these lands are the ones who legally possess them.”
Mr. Pagés also stressed that this is a firm commitment of the National Government and ANATI: “We will work tirelessly so that every Panamanian man and woman can live with the peace of mind and security of knowing that the land they own is legally recognized and protected.”
This delivery of titles is just the beginning of an ongoing effort by ANATI to regularize land ownership throughout the country. With a title in hand, beneficiaries will be able to access banking services, apply for loans, and turn their dreams into reality, thus opening the doors to new opportunities for development and well-being for their families.
ANATI will continue to work with dedication and transparency to ensure that every Panamanian has legal certainty over their lands, thereby consolidating progress and justice in the country’s territorial administration.
