In his traditional Thursday conference, President José Raúl Mulino appointed José Arellano Moreno as the new magistrate of the Electoral Court, a position where he will take office in January 2025.
In his resume, Arellano Moreno graduated from the Faculty of Law and Political Sciences of the Santa María La Antigua University (1976) and was director of the Law School of the Santa María La Antigua University. (1982 – 1993) and Dean of the Faculty of Law of the Santa María La Antigua University. (1993 – 1999).
He was also a professor at the Faculty of Law of the Santa María La Antigua University, in the Civil Contracts Chair. (1977 – 2014) and Chief Officer and Secretary of the Third Municipal Court of the District of Panama (1973 – 1976).
He has also served as a Substitute Magistrate of the First Superior Court of Justice (1998 – 2010) and has been a Partner lawyer in the forensic firm Arellano & Asociados.
For more than 47 years he has practiced law in various branches of law, particularly in litigation and arbitration, as well as providing legal advice on civil and commercial matters to banks and insurance companies.
Member of the National Bar Association, where he has held positions of Secretary and Member of different Boards.
Author of several essays and three law texts: General Rules of Civil Contracts; Civil Domain Transfer Contracts; and Bankruptcy Insolvency Processes, Volume I, Reorganization Process.
