President Maduro: We are defeating a cyber terrorist attack

Presidente Maduro: Estamos derrotando un golpe cibernético terrorista

During the unveiling of the statue of Commander Hugo Rafael Chávez Frías in the state of La Guaira, the president of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro Moros, emphasized the resistance of the people against the hatred and violence generated by the sectors of the extreme right that kneel before the empire and assured that “the Bolivarian Government is defeating a cybernetic, fascist, criminal and terrorist coup d’état.”

In his speech, President Maduro stressed the importance of citizen awareness and rejected violence as a means of political expression. “I asked the people: we ran a joyful campaign, with proposals, with a plan. We organized the people to vote with love, in peace and tranquility. We do not organize people to go out to burn or kill, we have never done it and we will never do it, the day we have to take up a rifle it will be to defend these seas and these lands of Venezuela from American imperialism.”

The head of state also denounced the spread of hatred by the extreme right, pointing out that the objective is to weaken the ideological, spiritual and moral strength of the people. “They wanted to intimidate, but the people did not give up, they will not give up and peace will continue to triumph in Venezuela. For there to be peace, there must be justice in this country.”

He also recalled the importance of national symbols, such as the Venezuelan flag with its eight stars, which represent the unity and history of the country. “Why did they dare to burn the original flag of the Republic? These gang members have the objective of burning the symbols of the Pariah. They are the same ones who eliminated the star of Guayana, those who painted the flag black, at one time. The tricolor flag of the Venezuelan Homeland has and will have eight stars, including that of the Essequibo Guayana.”

In this way, President Maduro defined the meeting with the People’s Power of La Guaira as a day of love, justice and historical vindication, in which he also paid tribute to the indigenous peoples. “I give a warm greeting to the spokesmen and spokeswomen of the People’s Power, to the leaders and military chiefs and to the soldiers, in this civic-military-police unitary act.”

He also said that the new monument in honor of Hugo Chavez stands as a symbol of the struggle for peace and justice in Venezuela. In his speech, the national leader asked why some still fear Chavez and again rejected fascist violence. “Why so much hatred against the symbols of the Homeland? What do they still fear from Hugo Chavez? Why do they try to take revenge on Hugo Chavez?”
