The President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro, affirmed this Friday that Venezuela is at peace and in full exercise of its national and popular sovereignty.
The head of state made his speech during the swearing-in ceremony before the National Assembly to hold office during the constitutional period 2025-2031, together with other authorities of the country, as well as representatives of more than 125 countries and international organizations.
“We had to swear before the National Assembly and, as always, we have done so. We have complied with this Constitution, the Constitution that was born from our hands, from ordinary men and women,” he highlighted.
The president highlighted that the people are in the streets to accompany the swearing-in ceremony. “Here they have placed the symbolic elements mandated by law with which a president must be invested with power and authority. “I have sworn with the strength and commitment demonstrated by all these years of struggle,” he said.
In addition, he recalled the legacy of Commander Hugo Chávez by bringing to the 21st century the ideas, the project and the original dreams “of the men and women who on horseback drove the Spanish empire from all South American lands.”
The Executive expressed to those who “like to shoot at Venezuela from abroad and to the fifth column traitors to the country who like to join the chorus of those who defile the country, to those who attack Venezuela from abroad, they I say: We are the builders of this Constitution, we are its drafters.”
President Maduro ratified that the country’s Magna Carta was born despite the oligarchs and that it guarantees a democratic, social State, based on law and justice.
“It was born against the grain of imperial conspiracies, it was written by the people, it was approved for the first time in history by the people, it has been defended by the people and today we can say (that) this Constitution is victorious and Venezuela is at peace. This act is possible because Venezuela is at peace, in full exercise of its national sovereignty, its popular sovereignty, its national independence,” he asserted.
History of heroic resistance
The head of state highlighted the history of heroic resistance that the Venezuelan people have when facing imperialism and colonialism.
“When I swore in front of the president of the National Assembly, Jorge Rodríguez, and after the presidential sash was placed on me, seeing the beauty of this process that brought this sash here, which represents the heroic battle of our people these six years, and these six years represent a wonderful synthesis of the 500-year battle of resistance against all colonialisms, all supremacisms, all imperialisms, because if something characterizes the 500-year history of the people of this land called Venezuela, it is the history of resistance heroic, wonderful, against all forms of domination,” he emphasized.
Likewise, the president expressed to the Venezuelans that the presidential sash prepared by them. “This band was made by the people president and now it is led by the president people and I will never fail them, I will never betray them,” he stated.
President Maduro urged that no one be confused with the people of Venezuela, reiterating that they will guarantee peace and national sovereignty.
