The president of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro Moros, urged this Thursday to request Spain to extradite former opposition deputy Dinorah Figuera, for the theft of assets and resources frozen abroad due to international sanctions.
“Just as we extradite criminals to those countries, (…) we ask for Figuera’s extradition, so that he can face justice,” said the president during his “Maduro Live de Repente” program, accusing Figuera of being “robbing Citgo”, a subsidiary of the Venezuelan oil company Pdvsa in the United States.
The head of state assured that a group of former parliamentarians (AN-2015), headed by Figuera, “increased their monthly salary by 40% and receive up to 10 thousand dollars each,” among whom he mentioned Juan Guaidó, whom called “bandit.”
For her part, the executive vice president, Delcy Rodríguez, said that this group, which she described as a gang of thieves, intends to maintain illegality to steal the assets of the Venezuelan people through an Assembly that does not exist, in reference to the AN from 2016-2021, recognized by the US as “the last democratically elected institution” in Venezuela.
It is worth remembering that last Monday the National Assembly (AN) announced that it will request the Public Ministry (MP) to apply the Simón Bolívar Law to these former deputies, who arbitrarily and illegally accessed Citgo’s assets.
