This Sunday the death of the former mayor of the Guaicaipuro municipality of the Miranda state and leader of the PSUV, Raúl Salmerón, was reported, a fact that was lamented by the President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro.
In a message posted on his account on the social network Twitter, the national President sent his condolences to family and friends of this leader.
Salmerón was elected mayor of the Guaicaipuro municipality, in Miranda state on July 30, 2000 in an alliance of the V Republic Movement (MVR) and the Communist Party of Venezuela (PCV).
With the rank of Lieutenant Colonel of the Army, Raúl Salmerón participated in the military rebellion of November 27, 1992 in Venezuela, for which, when it failed, he was sentenced to 22 years in prison for the crime of military rebellion; however, he was pardoned by President Rafael Caldera.
