At the meeting, held at the Miraflores Palace, bilateral commitments in pursuit of common peace were reviewed.
The President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, received this Thursday the Minister of Defense of Colombia, Iván Velásquez, who arrived at the Miraflores Palace in order to review the commitments acquired between both countries for common peace on the border .
The Minister of People’s Power for General Defense in Chief, Vladimir Padrino López, who arrived with the illustrious guest to strengthen ties between the two nations within the framework of the new peace diplomacy, was also present at the meeting.
Minister Velásquez’s visit occurs under the need for Venezuela and Colombia to strengthen alliances in the defense area at the highest level, just when relations between the two countries began to heal with the arrival of President Gustavo Petro to the government of Bogotá.
The meeting also serves to review the strategic cooperation agreements to effectively fight crimes such as drug trafficking, smuggling and terrorism, very common on our shared border.
Venezuela and Colombia promote a new era of relations with the signing of agreements in areas such as trade, migration and border security, in which they bet on integration to consolidate significant progress for both peoples.
