President Maduro received the Iranian Foreign Minister in Miraflores

President Nicolás Maduro received today the chancellor of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Hosein Amir Abdollahian, who arrived in Caracas in the midst of a dialogue agenda with the main authorities of Venezuela.

Abdollahian arrived in Venezuela from Nicaragua early this Friday morning and was received at the Maiquetía international airport by the Minister of Transportation, Ramón Velázquez, together with the Vice Minister for Asia, the Middle East and Oceania of the Foreign Ministry, Tatiana Pugh. , and the Iranian ambassador in Caracas, Hojjatolah Soltani.

The chancellor of the Islamic nation makes his first visit to Latin America after being appointed to the post, in Managua, Nicaragua, where he arrived on Wednesday, fulfilled an agenda with authorities from that Central American nation, including Nicaraguan President Daniel Ortega and visited this Thursday the ‘Supremo Sueño de Bolívar’ refinery, jointly managed by Iran, Venezuela and Nicaragua, located in the city of Miramar. He also signed a memorandum of understanding in that nation with his Nicaraguan counterpart, Denis Moncada, on cooperation and bilateral political consultations.

During the day on Friday, the Iranian Foreign Minister held working meetings with the Executive Vice President, as well as with the President of the National Assembly, Jorge Rodríguez. According to a note from the People’s Power Ministry for Foreign Relations, Foreign Minister Abdollahian will fulfill an intense agenda with Venezuelan authorities to strengthen bilateral cooperation and further strengthen strategic alliances between Caracas and Tehran, with special emphasis on measures to combat the blockade that the United States United deploys against both nations.

It is worth remembering that, last June, during the official visit of President Nicolás Maduro to Tehran, Venezuela and Iran deepened political relations, economic and commercialvisit during which the Venezuelan president and his Iranian counterpart, Seyed Ebrahim Raisi, signed a 20-year strategic cooperation plan in various areas of mutual interest such as the energy, scientific, oil, defense, culture, economy and food sectors.
