President Maduro greets the 64th anniversary of the Cuban Revolution

This Sunday, the international community has reiterated its support and solidarity with Cuba after commemorating the 64th anniversary of the triumph of the Cuban Revolution.

President Nicolas Maduro honored the strength and struggle of the Cuban people 64 years after the triumph of the Cuban Revolution.

Through his account on the social network Twitter, the head of state highlighted: “The memorable victory of the revolutionary people of Cuba still shakes consciences in the world, bothering the claims of Yankee imperialism, to sustain its hegemony above the wave rebel who advances demanding justice. Long live Cuba always victorious!”

Through a statement posted by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Carlos Faría, on his Twitter account, on behalf of the Venezuelan people and government, he congratulated the Cuban people on the anniversary of the triumph of the Cuban Revolution.

Here is the full statement:

The President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro Moros, congratulates on behalf of the Venezuelan People and Government, the heroic People and Government of the Republic of Cuba, on the occasion of commemorating the 64th Anniversary of the Triumph of the Cuban Revolution.

On this date of special historical significance, Venezuela ratifies our admiration for Cuba, to which we are united by historical ties of brotherhood and similar challenges in defense of the self-determination of peoples against any form of foreign interference that harms independence and national sovereignty.

One more year after the triumph of the Cuban Revolution, we Venezuelans pay tribute to the Commander in Chief of this libertarian feat, Fidel Castro Ruz, who on his first visit to Venezuela, in 1959, said: “I want the Patria concept to have a greater scope. May the destiny of our peoples be a single destiny! How long will we be in torpor? Until when divided, victims of powerful interests? If the unity of our peoples has been fruitful, why should the unity of nations not be more fruitful? That is the Bolivarian thought. Venezuela must be the leading country of the peoples of America”.

Today we remember the women and men of the Rebel Army who put an end to the ferocious dictatorship of Fulgencio Batista and, later, led the Cuban Revolution along the path of anti-imperialism, socialism and internationalism.

On this new anniversary of the Cuban revolutionary feat, we remember the words of our commander Hugo Chávez when he visited Cuba for the first time in 1994: “We must mutually feed each other in a Latin American revolutionary project, imbued, as we have been for centuries, with the idea of a Latin American, Latin American and Caribbean continent, integrated as a single nation that we are. We are in an era of awakenings, of resurrections of peoples, of strength and hope”.

Long live freedom

Former Bolivian President Evo Morales highlighted the value of the Cuban people and its president, Miguel Díaz-Canel, “for keeping the flame of freedom alive.”

“This historic day brings us closer to the memory of the conviction and loyalty of brother Commander Fidel Castro who, together with revolutionary brothers like Che Guevara, defeated Yankee imperialism. It is a day to demand that the US lift the criminal blockade against Cuba,” Morales wrote on his Twitter account.

Likewise, the Government of Nicaragua, in a statement, highlighted the unyielding dignity and sovereignty of the island after overcoming the challenges of the empire with dignity.

The Communist Party of Chile (PCCh), for its part, signified that the Cuban people hold their flags high and show signs of resistance, dignity and solidarity to the entire world, despite the criminal campaign of imperialism.

It should be noted that other political organizations from other countries also commemorated this important day for the Caribbean island.

On January 1, 1959, the revolutionary troops of the July 26 Movement, led by commanders Fidel Castro Ruz and Ernesto “Che” Guevara, triumphantly entered Havana, the capital of Cuba, thus ending the Fulgencio dictatorship. Bautis and a revolutionary government was established in its place that represented the will of the majorities.
