This Thursday the president of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, held a telephone conversation with his counterpart from Türkiye, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, to express his solidarity with the catastrophe caused by earthquakes on February 6, 2023.
The information was provided through an official statement from the Venezuelan government. The text refers to Maduro expressing his deep regret and extending his heartfelt condolences to Erdoğan on behalf of the Venezuelan people. In addition, he expressed his wishes for a speedy recovery from the sad episode, to “continue to guide his people along a path full of hope and well-being.”
For his part, the Turkish president thanked the fraternal spirit of Maduro and the Venezuelan people, demonstrated by the dispatch of the Simón Bolívar Humanitarian Task Force, which works alongside the teams from Türkiye as well as from other countries in the actions of rescue.
Likewise, he highlighted the spirit of solidarity in Venezuela, besieged by unfair sanctions.
“This gesture has been highly appreciated by the authorities and the people of Türkiye, since it has demonstrated, once again, the generosity and spirit of solidarity of a country like Venezuela, constantly besieged by imperial interests and on which injustices weigh Unilateral Coercive Measures,” President Erdoğan said.
The statement also highlights the willingness of both leaders to continue working together in “building a more equitable and just world for the mutual benefit of our peoples and the planet.”
