The President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro, congratulated the parathlete this Thursday Clara Fuenteswho gave Venezuela its second gold medal at the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games.
Through its account On the social network Instagram, the head of state highlighted Fuentes’ victory in the 50-kilogram women’s weightlifting event, setting a world record with a weight of 124 kg.
“We woke up with a new victory for Venezuela, our weightlifter, Clara Fuentes, won a Gold medal in Parapower – category -50 Kg, lifting a total of 124 kilograms, more than double her own weight, a record at the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games,” she said.
The president stressed that the parathlete is a “worthy representative of Venezuela.”
With Fuentes’ victory, the country obtained its third medal at the Paris 2024 Paralympics.
The first gold medal for Venezuela was obtained by the parathlete Enderson Santos and his guide Eubrig Maza in the 400 meters flat, T11 modality, with a final time of 50.58 seconds.
Lisbeli Vera won the silver medal in the 400-meter T47 event, reaching the podium with a time of 56.78 seconds.
