The Head of State, Nicolás Maduro, commemorated this Holy Thursday on the World Day of the Peasant Struggle and recognized “the immense commitment that men and women of the field have with the production of food.”
Through his Instagram account, the president said that our country has a good climate, productive soils, enough water sources and the effort of the people working in the countryside.
Therefore, he said that “we will continue to join forces and capacities to increase agricultural production, in a sustained effort of 25 years, with a vision of the future, through the effort and work that began commander Chávez, in order to prioritize production, invest in technology and end the landowner.”
In the publication, a video is attached to honor the workers of the field, highlighting that “they and they hold life, with wet land in the hands and sun in the face”, where their combative attitude towards the fertile future of humanity prevails, while the capital burns and strips, the peasants resist, cultivate sovereignty, defend the earth, they claim the fair change, for the common good ”.
Then, the dignitary expressed his unconditional support to the field sector towards the transformation of an agricultural Venezuela. This commemorative date served to reiterate that Venezuela will never go back “in the conquests of the historical struggle for the Earth. They have my support!”
It is important to highlight that this Holy Thursday is commemorated on the world day of the peasant struggle, in memory and tribute to the peasants who have offered their lives for a better world, by agrarian reform and food sovereignty, in the defense and care of nature, seeds and water.
Each year the date is remembered with initiatives of peasants, indigenous people, migrants, farmers and workers in general, who support the struggle for land and agrarian reform, the rights of peasants, the promotion of agroecology and other struggles.
