President Maduro begins official visit in Saudi Arabia

The President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro, arrived this Sunday at the King Abdulaziz International Airport, located in Jeddah, the second most important city of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, regarding a work agenda that aims to strengthen political, diplomatic and energy alliances. .

President Maduro informed through a publication on his Twitter account that he continues in a productive international work agenda, which advances in the strengthening of bilateral relations, brotherhood and respect between Venezuela and the world.

“We are in Saudi Arabia to continue with our productive International Work Agenda, which advances in the strengthening of bilateral relations, brotherhood and respect between Venezuela and the world,” he said.

It is the third time that the head of state has attended the country of the Arabian Peninsula, after his visit in 2015 and 2016, in the last year he was pursuing the recovery and stabilization of crude oil prices.

Accompanied by the first combatant and deputy of the National Assembly, Cilia Flores, the national President is received by senior Saudi officials with the honors corresponding to his investiture.

Bilateral relations between Venezuela and Saudi Arabia are based on their concurrence in the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC), in which both signed their birth certificate on September 14, 1960.

At the end of the 1970s, the first rapprochement between the two nations would take place, however, it would be Commander Hugo Chávez who would consolidate a new stage of cooperation beyond the oil area, forging bonds of friendship, brotherhood and solidarity in the midst of diversity.

Maduro arrives in Saudi territory from Ankara, the capital of Türkiye, where he attended the events for the inauguration of Recep Tayyip Erdoğan as re-elected president for the period 2023-2028.
