The first president to arrive at the Itamaraty Palace, in Brasilia, was the President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro, who will participate in the summit of heads of state of the Union of Southern Nations (Unasur).
According to a television report, Maduro arrived at Itamaraty, the epicenter of the meeting of the southern presidents, at around 10:00 a.m. local time.
It should be noted that the Venezuelan head of state is expected by the different media that are present at the headquarters of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Brazil.
South Summit
This Tuesday will take place the summit of presidents and heads of state of Unasur convened by the president of Brazil, Luiz Inacio Lula da Silvawith the aim of reinvigorating integration and complementarity among the countries of the region.
Unasur is made up of Argentina, Bolivia, BrazilChile, Colombia, Ecuador, Guyana, Paraguay, Peru, Suriname, Uruguay and Venezuela.
The event’s main objective is to reinvigorate regional cooperation and maintain high-level dialogues with the different countries of the region.
“The new era We are building solidarity, union and growth with the strength of the peoples of the South. Let’s move forward, with the certainty of victory!” President Nicolás Maduro published in this regard on his Twitter account.
At the beginning of last April, Lula da Silva made official the return of Brazil to Unasur, a group made up of Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Guyana, Paraguay, Peru, Suriname, Uruguay and Venezuela, reports the Xinhua agency.
