Cataracts are a natural aging process that results in the loss of transparency of the crystalline lens, which is the natural lens of the eyes, leaving it opaque and whitish. It can also occur for other reasons, such as diabetes, use of corticosteroid medications or eye trauma.
The individual who has this problem has the sensation of seeing through fogged glass, as if they were in a smoky or cloudy environment. Through a surgical procedure, it is possible to replace this opaque natural lens with a transparent artificial one.
