President Luis Abinader lamented the death of Jesus Rojas Alou, the former player of Big leagues passed away this Friday and who was the youngest of the trio of Rojas Alou brothersalong with Mateo and Felipe.
The head of state, who is in the eastern region, made the statement on Twitter.
Abinader was a neighbor of Felipe Rojas Alou and stated that he was always interested in being a baseball player.
Rojas Alou played in Lidom with the Leones del Escogido during 1956 and 1960 and then with the Tigres del Licey.
In Major League Baseball (MLB) he made his debut with the San Francisco Giants in 1963. His best batting average in a full season was .306 with the Houston Astros in 1970. He remained in the Major Leagues for 15 seasons and on one occasion Along with Mateo and Felipe, he defended the gardens of the San Francisco Giants, to be the only ones in the history of the majors.
He retired with a .280 career batting average, 1,216 hits, 170 doubles, and 32 home runs and 26 triples. He played seven years with the Houston Astros, six with the San Francisco Giants, two with the Oakland Athletics and one year with the New York Mets.
