The President of the Republic, Luis Lacalle Pou, will arrive in the dead friar on Thursday, February 6 to participate in a day of great relevance for the town. His visit coincides with the resignation of Mayor Gastón La Nauar and with the inauguration of January 3 Avenue, a work of great impact for the community.
The event will include an open council, where the municipality will present a balance of its management before the citizenship. In addition, the presence of Mayor José Yurramendi, departmental authorities and residents of the town is expected.
An act of farewell and celebration
Mayor Gastón La Nauar announced his resignation and highlighted the importance of this day for dead friar. “It will be a real celebration. We are proud of the work done during our management “he said. The Nauar took the opportunity to assess the work that will be inaugurated and stressed the special meaning of saying goodbye to a public act with colleagues and neighbors.
Details of the new January 3 Avenue
One of the central moments of the day will be the inauguration of January 3 Avenue, a key artery that will improve connectivity and urban infrastructure of the city.
It is a boulevard of approximately two kilometers, which will link the route with the old and new bridges. Its construction was carried out by the company Meliter Sa, hired by the Intendencia de Cerro Largo, together with personnel of the Municipality itself and the municipality.
The work includes gutter cord, cyclevias, pedestrian paths and an asphalt folder of 1,344 square meters, which will cover from Route 7 to access to the Playita Parador. Like LED lights were also installed in its entirety, which will improve security and visibility in the area.
It is estimated that around 1,900 people will benefit directly with this infrastructure, which will also impact the improvement of the urban conditions of the surrounding areas. The total investment of the work amounts to 48 million pesos.
An event with artistic show
After the institutional act, the day will culminate with an artistic show, which will have as its main attraction to the tropical singer Mariela Soledad and her band. A great public attendance is expected, in what will be a day of celebration for dead friar.
