President José Jerí arrived tonight in the district of San Juan de Mirafloreswhere a horrendous fire was recorded that mobilized several fire units and local authorities.
During his visit, the president highlighted the rapid intervention of State institutions to control the emergency, although he avoided answering questions about the formation of his new ministerial cabinet.
“Fortunately, the fire has been controlled. It has been a quick action as a State, from all levels, and now we are seeing what comes next. The Government’s will is to attend to all emergencies while in the field. If the State has made mistakes at the time, today we are trying to change it. I ask for your trust,” Jerí declared to the press.
Asked about the new ministerial cabinet, Jerí limited himself to pointing out that the issue “is being viewed with due responsibility” and asked to focus on the emergency.
“We are putting together the cabinet, but we will address the political issues in due course. Today we are looking at the issue of the emergency and I will only talk about that,” he emphasized.
Finally, the head of state insisted that his priority, for now, is to care for the affected families.
“Now we will see where people are going to sleep, clothes and food in the coming days. We must try to control situations like this and prevent them from happening in other places in the future,” he concluded.
