The president José Jerí Oré, issued a formal invitation to the mayor of Pataz, Aldo Mariñosto start a dialogue in the Government Palace.
President Jerí used his social networks to extend the call, emphasizing the importance of listening to local authorities.
“It is always important to listen to each other among Peruvians. There will be meeting points and surely differences. That is why today I invite Aldo Mariños, mayor of Pataz to the Government Palace to talk,” declared the head of state.
The invitation to the mayor of Pataz, La Libertad region, comes at a time when this area of the country faces serious security and public order problems, especially related to illegal mining and associated violence.
Jerí’s statement underlines the intention of his brief transitional administration to promote dialogue despite possible political or regional differences.
CAME OUT TO RECEIVE IT
The mayor of Pataz arrived at the Government Palace and José Jerí himself went out to the main square of Lima to receive him. Both authorities greeted each other and entered together through the main door of the Palace.
At the end of the meeting, the mayor promised that he would talk to the press to give statements about what he discussed with the new president of Peru.
