The president of the republic, José Jeríarrived this morning in Quito, to participate in the XVI Meeting of the Peru-Ecuador Binational Cabinet and in a meeting that he will hold with his Ecuadorian counterpart, Daniel Noboa. The head of state was received with the corresponding honors at the Mariscal Sucre International Airport.
The president’s agenda includes the delivery of a wreath in honor of Ecuador’s heroes, an event in which the national anthems of both countries will be sung, as a sign of respect and fraternity.
Jerí will meet with Noboa at the Presidential Palace of Carondelet, where they will discuss cooperation in security and defense, the fight against illegal mining and addressing pollution in the Puyango-Tumbes transboundary basin.
The leaders will lead the Presidential Meeting and the XVI Meeting of the Peru-Ecuador Binational Cabinet of Ministers, where work tables linked to social, cultural and cooperation issues will be developed; productive, commercial, investment and tourism issues; environmental, energy and mining issues; as well as border issues, infrastructure, connectivity, people’s rights, comprehensive security and defense.
This is the first trip abroad that President Jerí has made since he took office on October 10. The president was authorized by Congress, on December 3, to leave the national territory only on December 12, so he must return to the country before the end of the day.
