Boluarte said that although the Qali Warma program covered the feeding of primary school students and a sector of secondary school students in the country’s jungle, it still needs to reach that other remaining group of secondary school students from the coast and mountains.

“As the president of the Apafa (Parents Association) said, there is still a lack of that other group of secondary education students, so that they can have their Wasi Mikuna. From the Government, our concern is not only to give them quality education “That is why we are committed to creating more Bicentennial schools, reinforcing more schools in agreement with the Ministry of Defense, but also improving the curriculum, which is why we incorporated the Civic Education course,” said Boluarte.

As recalled, today, starting at 3:00 pm, the head of Midis will be questioned about the latest scandals in the now deactivated Qali Warma, such as the delivery of spoiled food to a school in Puno.

LAUNCH

Before the launch, Demartini announced the inauguration of Wasi Mikuna, the new school feeding program that will replace the questioned Qali Warma starting in 2025. The measure was formalized this Wednesday by supreme decree No. 010-2024-MIDIS, published in the official newspaper El Peruano.

According to the official document, the change responds to the “shortcomings and risks” identified in Qali Warma, mainly regarding the safety of the food delivered. The regulations indicate that the objective of Wasi Mikuna is to guarantee safer and more decentralized management, actively involving the educational community and local authorities.

The new program will have a board of directors made up of representatives from various sectors, such as Midis, the ministries of Education, Health, Production and Agrarian Development and Irrigation, as well as a representative of parents, appointed by the Ministry of Education.
