A carabinero, part of President Gabriel Boric’s escort team, was assaulted and shot during the night of this Friday in San Miguel. This was reported by Lieutenant Colonel Juan Reyes of the Santiago Sur Prefecture, noting that the official “was approached by three antisocials who took him to the Colina sector, where he was later abandoned.”
The officer stated that one of the antisocials shot him in the arm, “for which he had to be transferred later to the institutional hospital, where he is out of vital risk.”
Lieutenant Colonel Reyes added that “personnel from the OS-9 department are carrying out the tests to find the whereabouts of these antisocials.”
Meanwhile, the Undersecretary of the Interior. Manuel Monsalve, specified that “it is not a direct escort of the President, he acts as a driver for the security team.”
Shortly before 3:00 p.m. this Saturday, the President of the Republic, Gabriel Boric, unexpectedly arrived at the Carabineros Hospital to visit the assaulted official.
