This Wednesday, President Gabriel Boric delivered 236 new vehicles to Carabineros, with the aim of replacing cell phones that are out of service throughout the country.
These are 146 radio patrol cars and 90 4×4 SUVs that are now in the hands of the institution in 15 regions, the president indicated that “our commitment is to renew the entire Carabineros vehicle fleet during the government period that ends in 2026” .
Thus, from the Government they expect that by the end of the year there will be 700 vehicles that will cover the existing 40% deficit of cars in the institution since 2019.
“We know that today there are people who live in fear, who stopped going out at certain times, they have told me so in Santiago and in the regions, or who have stopped doing some activities for fear of crime, and I tell all those people, I reiterate that we are going to recover our public spaces, we are going to recover tranquility and the right to live in peace,” said the head of state.
In addition, the president emphasized the support for Carabineros from the Government with “concrete actions.”
“What brings us together today goes far beyond an announcement, it is the concrete demonstration that we are putting the actions where we put the words and that we are also taking care of one of the main concerns of citizens today: security” , he pointed out.
