President Gabriel Boric confirms Bárbara Figueroa as Chile's new ambassador to Argentina

The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Antonia Urrejola, informed today that the President of the Republic, Gabriel Boric, has appointed Bárbara Figueroa as Ambassador of Chile in Argentina, who has already received the respective approval.

Bárbara Figueroa is Professor of Philosophy at the Metropolitan University of Educational Sciences (UMCE) and graduated in Psychology at the University Academy of Christian Humanism.

She worked as a Philosophy teacher in municipal and subsidized private schools in various districts of the Metropolitan Region, and assumed the position of national director of the Teachers’ Association of Chile.

Later, she became the first woman to lead the Central Unitaria de Trabajadores (CUT Chile), a position she held for nine years.

At the time of her appointment, she was Secretary of Sustainable Development of the Trade Union Confederation of the Americas (CSA), Vice President of International Relations of the CUT Chile and representative of the workers in the Superior Labor Council.

It is worth mentioning that the Minrel also released a list of embassy appointments. For example, that of the former presidential candidate of the Socialist Party (PS), Paula Narváez, who will take over as ambassador to the United Nations (UN). It was also reported that Claudia Fuentes will be the representative of Chile before the International Organizations based in Geneva; Sebastián Kraljevich before the Organization of American States based in Washington and Francisco Saffie before the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) based in Paris.
