President Gabriel Boric said that the right-wing criticism of the Electoral Service (Servel) is “from the manual” of those who distrust democracy, after deputy Gonzalo de la Carrera published on his Twitter account a questionable slogan against the I approve of criticizing the body chaired by Andrés Tagle.
“Attempt by the right to delegitimize Servel to accuse fraud in case the result is not what they expect is from the manual of those who distrust democracy. As a Government we will firmly support our electoral institutions,” said the President, recalling that the voting location should be reviewed on the Servel page and that voting in the election on September 4 is mandatory, “because it is a right and a duty at the same time.”
“We are all protagonists of the history we are writing. We continue,” added President Boric.

It is worth mentioning that a group of deputies from the Communist Party (PC) announced that they will resort to the Ethics Commission of the Lower House to denounce their counterpart Gonzalo de la Carrera (ex-Republican Ind.), after he made a reference to the accusation that he himself has promoted in recent days and that has been considered an insult: he sent a letter to Servel for the agency to explain the existence of Detained-Disappeared in dictatorship who still appear qualified to pay.
The former republican stated that “we cannot trust Servel and that the government with all its machinery will try to steal the election.”
The Servel explained that this is due to the existence of the figure of “permanent forced disappearance” and, since their bodies do not appear, that person cannot be declared deceased, they cannot be removed from the registry. However, this was not an impediment for Gonzalo de la Carrera to make fun of the “door to door” of the Approval, attaching an image in which relatives visit their deceased in the cemetery.
