President Cortizo travels to Coclé to intercede for businessmen, asks to be allowed to participate in the dialogue table

The President of the Republic Laurentino Cortizo went to the province of Coclé this Wednesday afternoon to hold a meeting with Monsignor José Domingo Ulloa, who moderates the dialogue table, to expose the concerns that the businessmen and the productive sectors raised with the president. from the country.

“Basically, the purpose of the meeting is to internalize to Monsignor issues that were raised with me yesterday in two meetings that I held with the productive sectors such as the Chamber of Commerce and the unions of the agricultural and agro-industrial sector,” he said, noting that he would point out to the archbishop the importance of the private sector joining the single table to discuss these issues of national interest.

It should be noted that the Archdiocese of Panama had already said that in this first approach only those who started the dialogue would be allowed to participate, such as ANADEPO, the United People for Life Alliance, the organized groups of the Ngäbe Buglé Comarca and the Executive.

In a second phase of a deeper dialogue, all sectors would be included.

The president sent a message of encouragement to the members of his cabinet to continue forward “especially at this time is when one has to have courage.” He stressed that as president he always has concerns and although he acknowledged that this situation could have been avoided, he said that the protests began on July 4 when he was out of the country, he explained that at a time like this the least he wants is for the country there are confrontations and conflicts that go back a little on the issue of economic recovery.

He highlighted the importance of keeping the lines of dialogue open as well as the streets to avoid harming the rest of the population. “All these closures obviously have an effect on transportation, health and so on,” he added.
