President Laurentino Cortizo arrived this Monday night in the city of Los Angeles, United States, where he will participate in the IX Summit of the Americas, which is being held this week, until June 10.
Upon his arrival, the president was received by the charge d’affaires of the Embassy of Panama in the United States, Laura Castro, and the person in charge of protocol for Diplomatic Affairs of the United States Department of State, Nan Kennelly.
While the president will have a meeting with his work team, the First Lady of Panama will attend a parallel agenda to the president and this Tuesday, June 7, Colón de Cortizo will visit the architect Frank Gehry, who was the creator of the Biomuseo en la Calzada of Amador. It is the first building that the architect Gehry made in Latin America.
On Wednesday, June 8, President Cortizo Cohen, together with his wife, will participate in the opening ceremony of the IX Summit of the Americas at the Microsoft Theater, 777 Chick Hearn Ct in Los Angeles. The opening day will be led by the President of the United States Joseph Biden and his wife Jill Biden.
Later, in the evening, President Cortizo Cohen, the First Lady, and the Minister of Commerce and Industry, Federico Alfaro, will attend a dinner with businessmen from the IV CEO Summit of the Summit of the Americas, invited by Susanne Clarke, president of the US Chamber of Commerce, and Charles Rivkin, President and CEO of the Motion Picture Association (MPA).
In the afternoon of Thursday, June 9, the President of the Republic has scheduled a bilateral meeting with his counterpart from Chile, Gabriel Boric. And that same day, he will deliver his official speech before all the leaders present at the Summit of the Americas.
On Friday, June 10, Cortizo will attend the plenary sessions of the Summit of the Americas and a luncheon offered in honor of the presidents. The president will be returning to the country on Saturday, June 11.
The Summit of the Americas brings together the leaders of the countries of North America, South America, Central America, and the Caribbean. On this occasion and with the purpose of promoting inclusion, the United States Department of State organized three official forums: the ninth Forum of Civil Society, the sixth Forum of Youth of the Americas and the Fourth Summit of “CEO” of the Americas.
The official delegation of the National Government is led by Cortizo Cohen, accompanied by the First Lady Yazmín Colón de Cortizo, the Minister of Foreign Affairs Erika Mouynes, the Minister of Commerce and Industries Federico Alfaro Boyd, Ramón Martínez recently appointed by the Panamanian government as ambassador to Washington, the Ambassador of Panama to the Organization of American States (OAS) María Roquebert, the Consul of Panama in Los Angeles Gilda García and Dr. Camilo Alleyne.
