The President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro, took stock of the election day held this Sunday for the election of the country’s justices of the peace, an event that he described as “a historic moment,” with which he estimates “it has been paid for.” a debt to the Constitution that, thank God, we have fulfilled,” he stated.
“The justices of the peace have been born directly from the hand and vote of the people of Venezuela,” he celebrated, while “the decadent Western democracy are democracies without people, without sovereignty or participation and of elites.”
After a telephone contact with the State television channel, the national leader said that, with this electoral event, it is demonstrated that Venezuelan laws “are not a dead letter”, because in his opinion, the mobilization of the people has shown that in the country There is true democracy, democracy of the people in the neighborhoods, in the streets. “We are building a new quality and direct democracy,” he added.
Maduro took the opportunity to congratulate the justices of the peace elected on this election day, in which they are elected for the first time “by the popular vote,” he said. Likewise, he also greeted “all the communal circuits and neighbors,” while ensuring that after 8 p.m., “people continue voting.”
“We are the greatest guarantee of peace in this country, of political independence and of the exercise of popular sovereignty. Wonderful way to celebrate 25 years of the Constitution, with the popular vote, to elect the communal justices of the peace,” he highlighted.
In this order, he highlighted that he received audiovisual material from all parts of the country “the wonderful people exercising their sovereignty and master of their destiny.”
He maintained that those who want to speak negative things against the country, “should go to the neighborhoods so they can see what true direct democracy is,” he stressed.
He highlighted that through social networks “many things can be said to manipulate, but the people, the young people, come to the forefront to demonstrate that true democracy is consolidated in each election,” he said. “At this time, the fascists are burning with hatred, because they wanted a people without Christmas,” he said.
First consultation of the new year
The President of the Republic announced that the first election for consulting projects with the communities will be held on Sunday, January 26, 2025. “And I have the resources to go directly to the communities,” he stated. “The country needs a lot of dialogue, a lot of unity, for us to see each other and respect each other,” he said when making the announcement.
Prior to this event, he said that he is coming on January 10 where he will be sworn in as President-elect for the period 2025-2031 “with the support of social movements and the people of the world,” he highlighted.

For her part, the judge of the Supreme Court of Justice, Tania D’Amelio, explained that after the election of the justices of the peace, there comes a “training plan that begins in the first 15 days of January 2025.”

For his part, the Minister for Communes and Social Movements, Ángel Prado, noted that the judges of the peace elected this Sunday become the guardians of the community.
“What we are going to have are protectors, guardians of the community who are going to influence – using dialogue as an instrument – with the councils, against people who commit a minor crime in the community,” explained Prado when taking stock of the civic day.
