President Boric schedules visit to the Tarapacá region in the midst of military deployment

On the eve of the first anniversary since his arrival at La Moneda, President Gabriel Boric scheduled a new regional tour of the country. Now it will be the turn of the Tarapacá region, where an important military deployment has been carried out in recent days as a result of irregular migration.

The head of state will remain in the area for three days and, with the announcement, he will fulfill the promise he made at the beginning of his term to visit all the regions of the country before completing a year in power. It will be carried out to be on the ground and thus give a signal of decentralization.

In that instance, which took place in July of last year, the President stated that “I am not a person who stays locked up in palaces, who does not talk. I assure you that we are going to travel all over Chile, so that we can not only listen, but also give solutions”. “I am going to visit all the regions more than once during my tenure.”

The President’s journey began in April 2022, when he arrived in Coquimbo. Then, in May, he traveled to Punta Arenas to publicize the creation of a permanent policy for extreme zones. At the end of June he arrived in the region of Arica and Parinacota to lead a National Council where the security situation in the area was addressed.

In July he traveled to Valparaíso to present a tourism support program and provide his first public account. In August she moved to Los Lagos, where she led a fund for decentralization. She then began a train tour through O’Higgins, Maule and Ñuble, and visited the Atacama region.

In October he arrived in Antofagasta with a view to security and clean energy. Last January she traveled to the Los Ríos region and at the end of this month she arrived in Aysén. This, just after attending the Celac summit in Argentina.

At the beginning of February and after suspending his vacations as a result of the emergency caused by the forest fires that affect the south-central zone of the country, the President went to the Biobío region, one of the most affected by the accidents, to face the emergency.
