In an activity within the framework of the construction week carried out by the Chilean Chamber of Construction (CChC), President Gabriel Boric, spoke in the instance about some important points also touched on in the Public Account, such as security issues, improvement in housing and among others. The President took advantage of the moment to give a positive opinion regarding the latest book by Joaquín Lavín.
“The ten trends that will transform Chile”, a book written by the former presidential candidate, where he analyzes the Chilean economy and the challenges that are being prepared as a result of climate change.
“Allow me to make a recommendation that may be counterintuitive,” said the President, regarding the essay by the UDI leader.
Regarding his impressions of this work, the President maintained that “(Lavín) sent it to me, I have not had the opportunity to talk with him. I was infected by the optimism that he has regarding the trends that today, in the current configuration of the world, can push us to make Chile a fundamental partner and that will allow us to improve the quality of life of so many of our inhabitants and Chile can be a pole of developing”.
He also added that “beyond our political differences, which are legitimate, if we put all our creativity, all our energy, all the resources – from the private and public sectors – we can improve the lives of many people. How is that not going to move us?
He also added that “there have been other moments in history when we have missed out on these opportunities, because each one entrenches himself in his ideological precinct, because he votes rejection and I approve, and we do not agree. And it is the Chilean people who suffer, because the elites could not come to an agreement”.
