President Gabriel Boric guaranteed this Tuesday that if a new Constitution is approved in the next exit plebiscite on September 4, the changes to the proposal that the ruling parties are preparing will be carried out.
In an interview with the local channel VertexTV of the Los Lagos Region, the President thus dismissed the doubts that some sectors of Apurebo Dignidad have raised about the agreement, such as those expressed by the president of the Communist Party, Guillermo Teillier.
“There is an issue that is very bad for political debate, which is always taking a wedge and trying to interpret it in the worst possible way and from that make the other respond and constantly fight each other. That is an issue that is too naturalized” , he indicated.
Along these lines, Boric assured that “I have spoken with the president of the PC, just as I have spoken with the president of the PPD, the president of the PS, and there is a broad will to improve the aspects regarding which there are doubts in the implementation like others of the constitutional project that can be improved”.
“Therefore, I have no doubt that during this week we are going to have an agreement between the parties, in good time so be it, that they discuss about it and that hopefully the debate by those who are supporters of the new Constitution will also focus on the bright, positive aspects of it,” he added.
In his opinion, the constitutional proposal “is a significant democratic and rights advance, which is looked at not only here from Chile, but around the world regarding what it means. Those who legitimately have the option of Rejection can raise it without misinterpretations faith, but according to what the text says”.
“Our duty as a government is to guarantee that people can vote in an informed manner. I have no doubt that both Guillermo Teillier and Natalia Piergentilli, Paulina Vodanovic or the different actors have the will to improve the text, that this continues with certainty for the people,” he said.
The objective for the ruler is that “we can have a Constitution born in democracy, from a dialogue that for the first time in the history of our Republic is parity and with the full participation of women.”
