President Boric announces a trip to the area affected by fires: “Reconstruction is one of the priorities”

Although the emergency is more controlled than yesterday, the forest fires in the central-south zone are not letting up, firefighters and brigade members continue to fight the flames, and the Government is already thinking about the victims. For this reason, President Gabriel Boric held a working meeting with the presidential delegate for reconstruction, Paulina Saball.

According to the most recent report prepared by the National Disaster Prevention and Response Service (Senapred), there are 19 disasters in combat, 140 controlled and 36 are already extinct. In addition, 2,410 damaged buildings are reported.

The President, after the meeting with delegate Saball, from La Moneda, went to the Ministry of Finance, where he was approached by the press.

In said instance, President Boric reported that he will travel to the areas affected by the fires to assess the progress of the reconstruction projects on the ground, which he described as a priority for his government.

“We continue working on the issue of reconstruction, it is one of the priorities, I will soon be in the south supervising this issue, which is very important to me, and we are working very intensively on the recovery of production, on the recovery of housing, affirming ourselves more to make this as quick as possible,” Boric said.

It is worth mentioning that, at the meeting with the Head of State, former Minister Saball shared the information collected during her visits to the affected areas to the Head of State. With this background on the table, the Executive will prepare a consolidated proposal that allows reconstruction, after the fires. Meanwhile, the Government spokesperson, Camila Vallejo, will hold various meetings and participate in related activities.
