President Boric announced police reinforcement in Maule: “The way to beat crime is by recovering the right to live in peace”

The President of the Republic, Gabriel Boric Font, went to the Panguilemo Aerodrome, in the commune of Talca, to announce the implementation of the “Centauro section” throughout the Maule region, a Carabineros plan that increases patrolling in certain areas with georeferenced patrols.

This strategy has the objective of supporting the preventive work of the Carabineros quadrant plans. The Head of State also valued the work of the police officers, stating that he is “deeply grateful for that vocation (…) I am interested that these small symbols help them feel supported as an institution, but also as people, because I know that behind each one of you there are families.”

In addition, during the activity, the Regional Governor, Cristina Bravo, took stock of the measures implemented in the region to improve public safety, highlighting the joint work with all local authorities.

He also took advantage of the opportunity to highlight the work of General Berta Robles, the first woman to assume the leadership of the VII Zone. Regarding this, the President stressed that “the work being carried out by Carabineros in the area is remarkable. A couple of days ago, an increase in preventive patrols began through the distribution of police resources and this is led, as the authorities, the Zone Chief, General Berta Robles, one of the 4 generals, pointed out in their previous interventions. of Carabinieri”.

While the Minister of the Interior, Izkia Siches, highlighted the importance of recovering public spaces for citizens, and gave an account of the work of the Centauro Plan.

The installation of the “Centauro section” in the Maule Region began on August 17 in the communes of Talca, Curicó and Linares. To fulfill this purpose, 44 police officers and 27 police vehicles were redeployed.

Finally, the President highlighted the Government’s efforts in this matter, assuring that “the great majority, the great and overwhelming majority of Chilean men and women are honest, hard-working, self-sacrificing people who want to live in peace. And, therefore, those who choose the path of crime, of illicit association, of drug trafficking, we are going to tell them that we are not going to give them a break.”
