In an interview given to Brazilian journalists in Moscow, President Jair Bolsonaro announced that he will fly over the city of Petrópolis, in Rio de Janeiro, on Friday (18), after returning from a trip. Bolsonaro is in Russia, at the invitation of President Vladimir Putin, and will continue tomorrow (17) morning for a brief visit to Hungary, where he will meet the Prime Minister, Viktor Orbán.
Bolsonaro explained that there was a change in the flight route and that it will land at Tom Jobim-Galeaõ International Airport, in Rio de Janeiro, instead of Brasília.
“When I land, I intend to fly over the region. I talked to Paulo Guedes [ministro da Economia] during the morning. I talked to Rogério Marinho [ministro do Desenvolvimento Regional], which has already sent its representative to deal with these calamities matters for Petrópolis. I also talked with Governor Cláudio Castro [do Rio de Janeiro]with Marinho and Guedes [para liberar] special credit, of course, to serving the victims of the catastrophe. As is customary in these matters, the guarantee fund is released [FGTS] and [recursos para] reconstruction of emergency works to restore transitability in the region”.
The president also said that with part of his team he will fly over the region in two helicopters. Minister Rogério Marinho will accompany the president. The Secretary of Civil Defense is in town.
“We intend to present to the mayor [de Petrópolis, Rubens Bomtempo] what we can offer,” Bolsonaro said.
