Santo Domingo.- The Legal Advisor of the Executive Branch reported this Wednesday that, on the instructions of President Luis Abinader, the bill against cybercrime was withdrawn from the Chamber of Deputies.
The decision was made in order to facilitate the work to be carried out by the Consultative Commission for the revision and update of the legislation on freedom of expression.
This information was released this afternoon through a twitter of the Legal Consultant of the Executive Branch, Antoliano Peralta.
We recommend: Abinader creates an advisory commission to review legislation on freedom of expression
It is recalled that President Abinader, through message no. 13818, of June 14, 2022, sent the bill against cybercrime to the National Congress.
The purpose of this legislative initiative is to achieve the comprehensive protection of systems that use information and communication technologies, as well as the prevention, prosecution and punishment of two types of crimes.
On the one hand, those committed to the detriment of such systems, their components or their contents and, on the other hand, those committed through the use of these information and communication technologies against natural or legal persons.
By instruction of the President of the Republic, I am proceeding to withdraw the bill against cybercrime from the Chamber of Deputies in order to facilitate the work that the Consultative Commission will carry out to review and update legislation on freedom of expression.
