Santo Domingo. – The president Luis Abinader expressed his regret for the death of Emmanuel Castilloprominent sociologist and director of the Santiago newspaper La Información, who died after health complications which worsened after a fall and subsequent surgery.
In a message published on his social networks, the president remembered the veteran media professional, for his commitment to social thought and the responsible journalismwith which he leaves a legacy that will always be remembered by the country.
“I receive with great sadness the news of the death of Enmanuel Castillo. I accompany his family, friends and the entire community of La Información in prayer. Peace to his soul,” said the president.
Castillo assumed the direction of the newspaper La Información in 2009, after succeeding the historian Fernando Pérez Meménwhich marked the beginning of a stage of modernization and greater ties with the newspaper’s community.
He is also remembered in the business and institutional sphere, for his performance as executive director of the Association for Development (Apedi), from where he promoted initiatives aimed at economic growth and social of Santiago.
The news of his death has generated consternation in the journalistic, business and social fields of Santiago and of the country, where it was widely valued for his career and its commitment to ethical and responsible communication.
