The Congress of the Republic approved on Wednesday night the question of confidence raised by Prime Minister Ernesto Álvarez, with 79 votes in favor, 15 against and 5 abstentions.
In that sense, the Presidency of Peru thanked the vote of confidence issued by the Parliament, which they call the “transition and reconciliation cabinet.”
“We believe in dialogue and working together for a safer Peru,” they indicated from the Presidency’s social networks.
“We thank Congress for trusting in a Government that will win the war against crime, sustain economic growth and guarantee democratic elections in 2026,” they concluded in the message.
The President of the Council of Ministers, Ernesto Álvarez, presented the management plan of the transitional government led by José Jerí Oré, detailing four strategic pillars focused on guaranteeing democratic stability, promoting economic growth, promoting social reconciliation and strengthening citizen security until the 2026 elections.
The main objective of Álvarez’s administration is to ensure a “democratic, orderly and free transition” that culminates with the elections of April 12, 2026, closing the cycle of instability. So the following points will work:
