The Presidency of Cuba denied information that has been circulating on social networks about an alleged suspension starting this Monday of activities that “are not considered a national priority.”
In a brief publication yesterday on their networks, the island’s top leadership assured that the note attributed to it “is not true” and called on the population to “continue to inform themselves through official channels.”
The denied communication assured that from this Monday “state entities and companies will operate only with essential personnel to guarantee essential services and the continuity of strategic activities.”
Also, that classes were suspended “at all educational levels until further notice.”
Written in a tone that simulates official notes, the alleged information from the Presidency stated that these measures were adopted “in the face of the escalation of hostile actions by the United States government” and urged Cubans to “maintain calm and unity.”

Ministries also deny
Other ministries of Labor and Education joined the Cuban Presidency’s denial this Sunday.
The first of them He reiterated that the circulating information is a “false and malicious statement” and noted that “the content of said document does not emanate from any institution of the Cuban Government.”
“Their objective is to spread misinformation,” he stated in an institutional note.
For its part, the Ministry of Education denied that classes were going to be suspended on the island and explained that “there has been no restriction, suspension or modification, and that nothing limits the normal development of the teaching-educational process.”
As the Presidency already did, both ministries called on the population to obtain information through official channels “for any clarification.”
Both the information initially disclosed on the networks and the official denial occur in a scenario of growing uncertainty due to the impact on the precarious Cuban economy of the recent US attack on Venezuela and the strong pressure from Washington on Caracas to suspend its close ties with Cuba and, in particular, oil shipments to the island.
This very Sunday, Donald Trump warned that Cuba He would no longer receive any more money or oil from Venezuela after the capture of Nicolás Maduro by US forces, and suggested that the island’s authorities reach an agreement with his government “before it is too late.”
The Cuban Government, for its part, has insisted in his “absolute right to import fuel from those markets willing to export it,” and has reiterated that no one “dictates him what to do” in reference to the statements from Washington to agree and give in to their demands.
