SALCEDO.- Leading a reforestation day in which some 2,500 trees were planted, Rafael Santos, director of the National Institute for Professional Technical Training (Infotep) together with the Ministry of the Environment and Natural Resources, urged the population to assume the commitment to preserve resources natural.
“This conference is a clear example of how both institutions and their members can join forces to achieve a positive impact on society, based on initiatives such as reforestation, which is a crucial tool to combat climate change and preserve the environment” highlighted Rafael Santos Badía.
In the activity coordinated by the Corporate Social Responsibility Division, the Cibao Sur Regional Directorate of Infotep, the Cenoví river basin is reforested with two thousand five hundred trees of the cabirma, chestnut, almond and saman species, with the aim of contributing to the recovery of the river basin, contribute to the reduction of carbon monoxide and raise awareness about caring for the environment.
The national coordinator of the Provincial Offices of the Ministry of the Environment, Erasmo Pichardo, speaking on behalf of the ministry, Miguel Ceara Hatton explained that the planted species facilitate the recovery of the river and the oxygenation of the soil.
“Reforestation, with the right plants, guarantees a sustainable future for the next generations,” Pichardo said.
The governor of the Hermanas Mirabal province, Lissette Nicasio, as well as the deputy of the Hermanas Mirabal province, Félix Hiciano and other personalities participated in the event.
