Presentation of political prisoners lacks legal basis, says Cenidh

The presentation he made this Tuesday, August 30, of ten political prisoners before a judge has no legal basis, denounced the Nicaraguan Center for Human Rights (Cenidh), on their social networks. The Nicaraguan regime took a dozen hostages of conscience to the Central Judicial Complex of Managua before a judge to submit them to an “informative hearing”, a criminal procedure that does not exist, alleged the Cenidh.

“One more abuse of the ORMU (Ortega-Murillo) regime, another session of torture for the prisoners, their families and one more form of intimidation for the population in general. This is an abuse of power without limits by the regime, there DOES NOT EXIST in the criminal procedure what they are calling an “informative hearing”, “the agency wrote in a statement distributed to the media.

This public exposure of the political prisoners occurs one day after they denounced the drastic reduction in food portions for more than a month, after the tenth visit of the political prisoners. The relatives demanded that the laws that protect people deprived of liberty who have been in captivity for more than 400 days in the Directorate of Judicial Assistance (DAJ) be complied with.

The Cenidh explained that the political prisoners had already been notified of the convictions imposed by the Ortega judges and that these sentences were ratified by the Court of Appeals; Subsequently, an appeal was made and that the resources should have already been admitted by the Supreme Court of Justice (CSJ).

“… but they continue to be cited by the unpresentable judge Octavio Rothschuh, a prevaricator who has no jurisdiction over these people… Do you mean then that they have not sent the appeals already admitted before the CSJ?”, questioned the Cenidh.

The Ortega and Murillo dictatorship accused the political prisoners of violating Law 1055, the Sovereignty Law, a legal tool approved by the deputies of the dictatorship to persecute, imprison and prosecute opponents of the Ortega-Murillo regime. They all received sentences of between eight and 13 years in prison, fines and inhibition from holding public office during the time of the sentence.

“We alert the world to these perverse acts, this is another commission of abuse by the regime, another commission of crimes by judges and magistrates. The repression has no limits in Nicaragua, we make a call to the national and international community, it is time to deepen the fight, “concluded the human rights organization.
