Present courses for teacher trainers

Aula Pyahu launched a new package of courses from its Action #4, focused on continuous training, whose main objective is to update knowledge and transversal skills in areas such as mathematics, language, basic sciences, social sciences and technology. In addition, its approach includes updating the necessary skills for new pedagogical innovations.

As a project that seeks to improve teacher training in Paraguay, Pyahu Classroom is jointly led by the National University of Asunción and the MEC with the support of the European Union and has the active participation of a consortium of 10 higher education institutions.

The new courses that are enabled in May are freethey develop from distance and they are aimed exclusively at teachers who today train educators in Teacher Training Institutes and official management practice schools.

The doctor. edgar sanchez, member of the Management Committee of Aula Pyahu, highlighted the importance of the strategy of rapprochement and integration of partner institutions with teachers, especially Public Teacher Training Institutes. He explained that the courses of previous editions have been highly valued, and that some details have been adjusted so that they are better used and useful for teacher training.

Subsequently, Prof. Dr. Sanie Romero de Velázquez, Rector of Unibe and coordinator of this action, presented the results of the courses already carried out. In total, 36 courses of the 60 planned courses have been implemented. So far, 3 batches of courses have been registered that bring together 1,940 participants linked to DFIs and HEIs and communities of practice. Of the total, 78% are women and 22% men.

Dr. Romero highlighted that in the planning phase the findings of the project diagnosis have been taken into account and stressed the importance of these new courses to promote the continuous training of teachers.

On the other hand, the Dequení Foundation in commemoration of its 37 years and with the support of the Citizen Educational Observatory, under the motto “Professors who leave traces”, wants to pay tribute to the teachers who stood out during the pandemic for their creativity, resilience, innovation and teaching vocation. Teachers of initial, basic and middle school education from all over the national territory who have generated good examples of improvement for the education of children can participate.
