He premier Ernesto Álvarez was in favor of the National Institute for the Defense of Competition and the Protection of Intellectual Property (Indecopi) becomes an autonomous constitutional body (GOOSE).
The president of the Council of Ministers (PCM) announced that the proposal will be debated in the Congress of the Republic, so that the entity has this new rank and the necessary autonomy, which will avoid some type of political interference.
“Although the Indecopi “It is a set of commissions and chambers that are very specialized in very specific and technical issues. It depends on politics, because whoever has the PCM can appoint its members,” the premier reflected.
Let us remember that this entity is a state organization that ensures consumer protection, free competition, the elimination of bureaucratic barriers and administers bankruptcy law, becoming an important regulator.
That’s why, “Indecopi it has to be a GOOSEso that it has the necessary autonomy and that its members are subject to public competitions, with the call to all specialists in each of their areas,” he told TVPerú.
In that sense, the Prime Minister, Ernesto Álvarezexplained that this proposal, which must be debated in Congress, also includes budget resources with the endorsement of the Ministry of Economy and Finance (MEF).
