Premier Ernesto Álvarez: "We are different, our cabinet is not from one party"

The president of the Council of Ministers, Ernesto Alvarezthanked the Congress of the Republic for granting the vote of confidence to his cabinet after his presentation before the Plenary.

During his speech, the premier highlighted that the approval represents the parliamentarians’ commitment to the citizens.

“I thank the national representation, because that is the result, not of us, but of the convictions and commitment that the congressmen have towards their constituents,” said Álvarez at the end of the session.

Moments before the vote, the head of the ministerial cabinet was optimistic and assured that his team marks a break with previous cabinets.

“I trust that they will give us the vote of confidence for one reason: we are absolutely different from the previous ones. Ours is a cabinet that is not from a party. There is no need to look good, to limit itself or to moderate its actions to present its party or sponsor a candidate in the next elections,” he stated.

Likewise, Álvarez reiterated his request to Parliament to grant legislative powers for a period of 90 days, in order to combat citizen insecurity and organized crime.

“Previously, delegated powers have been given so that the Executive can, for 90 days, dictate the necessary regulations to fight against crime. The issue of extortion arises in Trujillo, but it is due to a reality from 30 years ago and now they practically dominate Lima. It is not possible in 30 days to solve the problem or hit those gangs,” he explained.

Finally, the premier pointed out that his administration will seek to take advantage of the opportunity to promote concrete actions in matters of security and development.
