PEDERNALES.- After being shot in the head, a woman of approximately 26 years old lost her life in this border area, in an incident that the authorities are investigating.
The event has dismayed the Haitian community in the Los Altagraciano and Los Robles sectors, where 95% of those who live there are Haitians.
The pregnant Haitian woman had visited a compatriot friend to tell her about her sorrows, but apparently he let out his frustration by shooting himself with a homemade firearm that he had hidden in a towel.
The friend says that at one point when she had gone out to perform a physiological service, she heard the detonation of the gun and found her acquaintance covered in blood on the floor.
The friend of the deceased told the prosecutor, Maritza Corcino, that the young woman was telling her about the odyssey of abuse that she was going through because her partner allegedly mistreated her, beat her and denied him being the father of the child she was expecting.
However, the authorities are investigating the incident after observing some inconsistencies at the scene in order to establish any responsibility for the event.
According to witnesses, the young woman identified by the name of Tina Mere arrived at the room in a ravine where the friend not yet identified by the authorities lived around 11 in the morning, apparently with the gun in the towel.
The body of the pregnant woman was lifted by the acting medical examiner, José Luis Vallejo, the prosecutor Maritza Corcino Díaz, the Dicrim authorities and the Preventive Police, which is in the morgue of the Elio Fiallo Hospital.
